Standing Rock Game & Fish
Innovative approaches and exceptional service to foster customer trust and satisfaction.
Standing Rock Game & Fish, an agency of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe on the Standing Rock Reservation based in Fort Yates, ND, was interested in moving away from their plain, round badge. They wanted a special custom badge with the highly detailed Sioux Tribe custom seal as a focal point. Their dealer knew it would be difficult to manufacture. He called our team to see if we would be interested in taking on a challenging custom seal and badge project.
Intricate Center Seal Elements
The Prairie Tribes in North Dakota have symbols and elements with special meaning and are deeply appreciative when the attention to detail accurately depicts their symbols. The Sioux Tribe seal is intricate and filled with symbolism. Starting from the outside and moving in, there are a lot of words for a small space on the outer ring - “Standing Rock Sioux Tribe July 1873.” Moving in, the seal has eight adjacent teepees representing eight tribes. In the middle is a symbol representing the story of Standing Rock. One final point of difference, there are four colors in the seal; turquoise, red, yellow, and white.
Creative Approach to Add Important Symbol
The Standing Rock Rangers also hoped to include Eagle feathers on their badge without the expense of creating a new steel die. The Eagle Feather is a Native American tradition in dress and ceremony, especially with the Praire tribes, so achieving this design element while keeping within a budget was very important. We were able to create distinctive feathers with our engraving machines. A special durenamel applied to the engraved feathers created a hard, glass-like finish, resulting in innovative and beautiful Eagle feathers.
Communication of Process Throughout the Project
Our badge expert’s ability to explain how we would achieve the distinctive elements of the seal and the Eagle Feathers in design and manufacturing processes, made everyone feel confident and excited about the final look of their badge. Our dealer reported back to us that our communication, coupled with our creative approach to manufacturing something special, was deeply appreciated by Standing Rock. Everyone was “beyond pleased” with the finished product.
The creation of the Standing Rock badge emphasizes the value of listening to customers, creatively solving problems, and delivering exceptional service. Through attention to detail, cultural sensitivity, and innovative approaches, the project showcased the importance of honoring traditions while exceeding expectations and fostering client trust and satisfaction.
